Profile of Jinhua Polytechnic

Founded in 1994 and approved by the Ministry of Education of China in 1998, Jinhua Polytechnic is one of the higher vocational colleges first established by the government. It integrates the traditions and resources of six polytechnic schools, including Jinhua Normal School, Yiwu Normal School, Jinhua Health School, Jinhua Agricultural School, Jinhua Supply and Marketing Distribution School and Zhejiang Agricultural Machinery School. The history of Jinhua Polytechnic can be traced back to Public Junior Teachers' School, which was founded by Jinhua Government in 1907. In this sense, it has a history of more than 100 years. Based on vocational education and continuous inheritance and innovation, this school has been successively chosen as a national demonstration school, a national high-quality school, a key university in Zhejiang Province and an the A-level construction unit of Higher Vocational College with High Orality A-level construction unit of the national "double-high" school. Also, it wins the title of National Advanced Vocational Education Unit. It ranks "Top 50" of seven standards, including teaching resources, internship management,services contribution, international influence teaching management and student management"service contribution, international influence, teaching resources, educational effectiveness, internship management, teaching management and student management". Furthermore, it is selected as a national high-quality school for rural revitalization and talent cultivation, a national "double-qualified" teacher training base for vocational education. Moreover, it is included in four lists, like "Typical Institutions with Contribution and Service, Excellent Institutions with Student Development Index, Advantageous Institutions with Resource Construction and Excellent Institutions with Teacher Development Index".

More than 1,600 faculty members serve in this school, including 5 National Talented Individuals in China, 1 National Model Teacher, 3 National Technical Experts, 2 winners of the National May Day Labor Medal, 2 National Vocational Education Teacher Teaching Innovation Teams, 1 Huang Danian-style Teacher Team for National Higher Education, 90 provincial talents and 7 provincial teaching teams. Recently, Jinhua Polytechnic has won 13 first prizes in the National Vocational College Teaching Ability Competition, 11 national teaching achievement awards(2 of which are first prizes), 2 national textbook construction awards, 4 national ideological and political demonstration courses, and 4 national famous teaching teams for ideological and political classes.; It has undertaken 35 national scientific research projects and nearly 400 provincial and ministerial-level ones, established 2 academician expert workstations, and it has provincial key laboratories, provincial engineering laboratories and provincial application technology collaborative innovation centers. In this school, 2,337 authorized patents and 403 software copyrights are created here, with an annual payment of nearly RMB 30 million for scientific and technological services. The "Center for Modern Vocational Education of Zhejiang Province" was established with the cooperation of Jinhua Polytechnic and Zhejiang Research Institute of Education Science, which is the only provincial key research base for social sciences set up by higher vocational colleges in Zhejiang Province. It actively undertakes research tasks entrusted by the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education. The research results have been approved by national leaders 13 times, by provincial and ministerial leaders more than 30 times, and by prefectural and departmental leaders more than 20 times. More than 50 reports and signed articles have been published in state-level media such as People's Daily and Guang Mming Daily.

The school closely connects eight industries at the trillion-yuan level in Zhejiang Province and five industries at the hundred-billion-yuan level in Jinhua, forming 10 specialty clusters that effectively connect the information and internet economy, advanced equipment manufacturing, health biomedicine, modern agriculture, culture, education and health; There are 58 enrollment majors, including 2 national high-level major groups in China, 3 key demonstration majors with national support, 2 four-year higher vocational pilot majors, 1 undergraduate major, and 4 joint top-up majors, with more than 20,000 full-time students. In the last two years, both the total number of awards earned and all students who get prizes in our school have ranked first in China for the National Vocational College Skills Competition. It has been successively rated as one of the first national innovation and entrepreneurship education bases for vocational colleges, a registered national maker space, a national innovation and entrepreneurship institute, and a national career characteristic consulting studio in polytechnic schools and colleges. Now it is included in the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units by the Ministry of Education and it is one of 100 universities in China to monitor the employment status of graduates. About 7,000 graduates are cultivated for society every year, more than 97% of whom can implement their direction after graduation. A large number of outstanding alumni have emerged who have won honors such as National Model Teacher, National Model Teacher Ethics, National May Day Labor Medal, National March 8 Red Banner Bearer, National Moral Model, Figure of the Year that Moved China, National Advanced Individual in Poverty Alleviation, National Advanced Worker and Civil Servants Satisfied with the People.

The school adheres to open-door running and school-enterprise cooperation and creates a "Five-in-One" education model. The concept that "on-campus bases should produce and off-campus bases should teach" is implemented. A "school-enterprise community of interests" is also shaped. In recent years, it has actively built a "community of industry-education interests" that is materialized and integrated with "industry-school-research-training-innovation". The quality management mode of vocational education is explored, featuring co-governance of government, school, industry and enterprise, co-construction of curriculum, integration of teachers, co-cultivation of talents and joint promotion of evaluation. It has been continuously making innovations to form "a paradigm for all of the polytechnic schools in Jinhua". Specifically speaking, "Three Leadings (Leading through Standards, Technology, and Innovation), and Three Integration (Integration of Morality and Technology, Competition and Education, and Specialization and Innovation)" are conducted for the reform of talent training. Besides, "Four-party Participation and Four-type Evaluation" are referred to teaching quality evaluation, and "4+X" is a model for assessing teachers. Also, management and services from "Five Longitudinal and Five Horizontal Aspects" for students are utilized. It has built the first batch of intelligent precision manufacturing industry-education parks for industry-education integration projects in China. The first batch of national demonstration vocational education groups and Zhejiang modern agriculture vocational education groups are established in the school. New energy vehicle industry-education alliance in central Zhejiang and other high-end industry-education entities are built, too. Simultaneously, it actively carries out in-depth cooperation with Huawei Technologies, Pfizer Pharmaceutical and other Fortune Global 500 or domestic enterprises. Based on regional development, Jinhua Polytechnic has deepened cooperation with local government all the time. It takes the lead in establishing Jinhua Emergency Management College, Veterans College and Rural Revitalization College. It establishes an all-weather, all-field and all-round strategic cooperative relationship with Jinhua Economic & Technological Development Zone, signs a contract with Wuyi County Government to jointly establish "Wuyi College", and set up three affiliated secondary vocational schools, including Wuyi County Vocational School, Jiufeng Vocational School of Wucheng District and Pan'an County Vocational Education Center, forming a regional vocational education group. The "Online + Offline" training mode is innovatively used by our school, with more than 100,000 people trained annually so as to accurately serve the high-quality development of regional industries.

Jinhua Polytechnic has developed long-term cooperative relations with more than 100 universities and educational institutions in 39 countries and regions, enrolling more than 1,000 international students from over 80 countries. It has set up a non-independent legal entity Sino-foreign Cooperative school—Waikato International College and Jinhua Polytechnic, Musanze, Rwanda. Now it is a member of the World Federation of Colleges and Universities (WFCP), a member of the China-Africa Vocational Education Confederation, a vice chairman unit of the China-Africa (South Africa) Vocational Education Alliance, and a vice chairman unit of the "Luban Workshop" Construction Alliance. It has been selected for the "Future Africa—China and Africa Vocational Education Cooperation Plan", the first batch of Luban Workshop operation projects in China, the Chinese Workshop project of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of "'Silk Road Colleges' on the Belt and Road " in Zhejiang Province, the construction unit of Zhejiang International Student National Condition Education Famous Teacher Studio, Zhejiang Standard Cultivation Base for Internationalization, and the first batch of "Small but Beautiful" Overseas Projects in Zhejiang Province. Its international education ranks first in Zhejiang Province for three consecutive years. This school has successively carried out counterpart cooperation and communications with more than 30 colleges and universities, including Aks Vocational and Technical College, Aksu Education Institute, Tsaidam Vocational & Technical College, and Xichang Minzu Preschool Normal College. And every year, it receives more than 200 sister colleges and universities for investigation and exchanges.
